What is divorce care?
Divorce Care is a friendly, caring group of people who will walk alongside you through one of life’s most difficult experiences. A 13-week program, DivorceCare is designed to take you through specific steps on the road to recovery from this traumatic experience.
With over 50% of secular marriages falling apart these days, Christians have not been exempt. It is sad to note that nowadays many Christian marriages will and are, failing.
All the leaders involved have either been through a divorce or are part of families that have had to deal with these issues.
How the course works.
This course is comprehensive, and each week a different aspect is dealt with. Each session has a video-based instruction/discussion that is shown with a further discussion afterwards. Topics covered include:
- What’s happening to me?
- Facing my anger
- Facing my depression
- Facing my loneliness
- New relationships
- Financial survival
- Single sexuality
- Forgiveness
- Reconciliation
- Moving on, Growing closer to God
Amongst other issues, we look at the effects of divorce on children: The emotional response and the multi related problems of anxiety, anger, depression, low self-esteem, guilt and the dream that their parents will get back together.
We also look at the mistakes parents make and the role of non-custodial parents. We will deal with Reconciliation in all its forms i.e. not just getting couples back together but more essentially moving forward & communicating in a civilized way for the sake of the kids.

Alan & Jan have been married for nearly 25 years attending Pinelands Baptist since arrival in Cape Town 24 years ago. We are blessed to have run Divorce Care for about the last 15 yrs and rejoice at seeing the Lord work in folks lives who come to us. We have seen many healed and move on from the agonizing trauma of divorce and have learned to trust in the Lord for their futures.
