Youth Alpha Series

Who is the Alpha Course for?
The Alpha course is designed primarily for people who aren’t churchgoers and each course is open to everyone who would like to attend.

Why do an Alpha course?
Guests do Alpha for a wide variety of reasons – some want to investigate whether God exists; others are concerned about what happens after death. Some people have particular questions that they would like to discuss; others want to understand other peoples’ beliefs or would like to explore what the purpose of life is. Many guests have never been to church, others may have attended church occasionally but feel they have never really understood the basics of the Christian Faith.

How the course works
Alpha courses are based around small groups of 8 people, hosted by a leader or two who will facilitate and encourage discussion.

Alpha Course Weekly Format
The whole Alpha course lasts 9 weeks, with a day away in the middle. Each session begins with a meal – a chance to get to know others in the small group. There is a short talk, which looks at different aspects of the Christian Faith each week. This is follwed by a time of discussion in the small groups, where everyone is welcome to contribute their opinion, ask questions and discuss with the rest of the group.

The emphasis is upon exploration and discovery in a relaxed and informal environment.

Cost – free
There is no charge for attending the Alpha course, although we do ask for a donation to contribute towards the food costs. We suggest about R50 a meal. We can cater for vegetarian meals but unfortunately not more specific requirements e.g. vegan, gluten free

Divorce Care Course

Divorce Care is where you will find a friendly, caring group of people who will walk alongside you through one of life’s most difficult experiences. It is a 13 week program designed to take you through specific steps on the road to recovery from this traumatic experience.

With over 50% of secular marriages falling apart these days, Christians have not been exempt. It is sad to note that nowadays many Christian marriages will and are, failing.

All the leaders involved have either been through divorce or are part of families that have had to deal with these issues.

This course is comprehensive and each week a different aspect is dealt with

We cover the following topics with a video based instruction/discussion and then further discussion afterwards

Amongst other issues we look at the effects of Divorce on children.

The emotional response and the multi related problems of anxiety, anger, depression low self-esteem, guilt and the dream that their parents will get back together.

We also look at the mistakes parents make and the role of non-custodial parents.

We will deal with Reconciliation in all its forms i.e. not just getting couples back together but more essentially moving forward & communicating in a civilized way for the sake of the kids.

We are going to be running this course from 11 May 2021.
